What does it take to become an expert at something? KES fifth graders explored that question during their new literacy unit, Shaping Dreams: A Single Shard. Students worked on mini research projects about apprenticeships, learning how to use credible sources to find answers and share what they discovered in their own words.

Footwork was the name of the game in PE at KES as students put their coordination and teamwork to the test with a kickball-inspired game in the gym.

KES students celebrated Hispanic
Heritage Month with a hands-on music lesson all about
bomba, a traditional Puerto Rican form of music and
dance with African influences. They created their own rhythmic patterns and tried out the steps, bringing rhythm and movement together.

✨ On the last day of school, former KES students from the JJHS graduating Class of 2026 returned for a parade through the halls alongside fifth grade graduates, while students and staff cheered them on. 🎓
It was a day of celebration at KES as our fifth grade Bulldogs closed one chapter and look ahead to adventures at JJMS.
As summer approaches, students explored reading programs, challenges, and events offered through the Katonah Village Library. Visits to the library and KES included book recommendations, bookmark making, and ideas for keeping reading part of summer.

A warm welcome to the future Wolves! 🐺 The newly trained JJMS Peer Leaders helped make sixth-grade orientation a success, guiding current fifth graders through the building and sharing what they can expect as they begin their middle school journey.
JJMS 8th graders brought their Civil Rights research to KES, connecting with 5th graders who are learning about many of the same key figures and events. Through presentations, questions, and conversation, students deepened their understanding of the Civil Rights movement together.
